GuidesMake a game prop

Make a game prop

In this guide, you make a 3D model of a prop, such as a chest, a barrel or a lamp. You start from the template Model generation. Then you export the model as a file for your game engine.

Open the template

  1. Click Workflows in the header.
  2. In Templates, click Model generation. tabletop copies it into your org and opens it.

note

On the Free plan, an org can have 2 workflows: your first workflow and this template.

The template has these nodes:

NodesWhat they do
4 Plain Text nodesHold the prompts of the front, left, back and right views.
4 Generate Image nodesMake the four views. The front view is the reference of the other three, so all views show the same prop.
Generate ModelMakes one 3D model from the four views.
PreviewShows the model large.

Describe your prop

  1. Click the Plain Text node of the front view.
  2. Change the text to describe your prop. For example, change “a stylized treasure chest with iron bands and a brass lock” to “a stylized wooden barrel with iron hoops”.

The other three prompts say “The same object as the reference image”. You do not have to change them.

Keep the words “plain white background, no shadow, no text” in the prompt. A clean view gives a cleaner model.

Set the model

Click Generate Model. In Params, the template sets:

SettingValueWhy
TypeMultiview to modelUses the four views.
ModelP2.0A newer Tripo model. It costs more tokens than the default.
Quad meshOnMakes a mesh of four-sided faces.
Face limit1200Keeps the model light for a game.

For a large prop, such as a house, set a higher Face limit. For a small prop, set a lower one.

Run it

  1. Press ⌘A on Mac or Ctrl+A on Windows or Linux to select all nodes.
  2. Click Run.
  3. Look at the four views when they are done. If a view is wrong, click Re-run in the Run tab of that node.
  4. Wait until Preview shows the model. Turn it with the mouse.
