Providers
A provider is the AI service that runs a node, such as OpenAI or Tripo. Some nodes have more than one provider. Each provider gives a different result and has its own settings.
Nodes with no provider run in tabletop. The node reference shows them as “Built in”.
Pick a provider
- Click the node. The inspector opens.
- In Params, open Provider.
- Click a provider.
features/providers-pickProvider shows only on a node with more than one provider. The node also shows the provider in its settings list.
Hover the info icon next to Provider to read about the current provider.
What changes with the provider
- The settings. Each provider adds its own settings below the settings of the node.
- The inputs. A provider can skip some inputs. The node dims an input that the provider does not read.
- The cost. Each provider has its own token cost. Next to Run, tabletop shows the most tokens that a run can use. See Tokens and plans.
- How you pay. When you change the provider, Pay with goes back to Use tokens.

Pay with tokens or your own key
A node pays for each run with the tokens of your org. If your org has its own API key for the service of the provider, the node can use that key in place of tokens.
The inspector shows Pay with when the provider takes a key:
| Choice | What it does |
|---|---|
| Use tokens | The run uses the tokens of the org. |
| A key, such as “Studio key ••••1234” | The run uses that key of the org. It costs no tokens. |
| Add a service key…, such as Add a Tripo key… | Opens Provider keys in Organization settings. |
