Connect Claude Code or Codex

In this guide, you connect an AI agent to your org. Then you ask the agent to build a workflow. The agent uses tabletop through MCP. See Agents (MCP and the CLI).

You need Claude Code or Codex on your computer, and a terminal.

WayForYou need
An API tokenClaude Code and CodexAn API token that you make in the app.
Your sign-inClaude CodeOnly your tabletop sign-in.

Connect with an API token

1. Make the token

  1. Click your avatar, then Organization settings.
  2. Open API tokens.
  3. Type a Token name, such as “Claude Code on my laptop”.
  4. In Days, type how many days the token works, such as 90.
  5. Select the scopes. To let the agent build and run workflows, select Read workflows, Change workflows and Start runs.
  6. Click Create token.

  2. Paste the command in a terminal. Press Enter.
  3. Click Done in tabletop.

The command adds tabletop to your agent. The Claude Code command looks like this:

claude mcp add --transport http tabletop https://app.tt3d.ai/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"

For Codex, the app shows two lines. The first line sets TABLETOP_TOKEN. Put that line in your shell profile too, so that Codex finds the token in each new terminal.

Keep the token secret. Anyone with the token can act in your org with its scopes.

Connect Claude Code with your sign-in

  1. In a terminal, add tabletop to Claude Code with the MCP address https://app.tt3d.ai/mcp:
claude mcp add --transport http tabletop https://app.tt3d.ai/mcp
  2. Start Claude Code. Type /mcp, pick tabletop, then pick Authenticate.
  3. Your browser opens tabletop. The page says “Claude Code wants to use tabletop for you”.
  4. In In the organization, pick your org.
  5. Click Allow.

Try it

Ask your agent a task in plain words. For example:

  • “List my tabletop workflows.”
  • “Make a tabletop workflow that makes a 3D model of a wooden barrel from a prompt. Then run it.”
  • “How many tokens does my org have?”

Open the workflow in tabletop while the agent works. The agent shows as an avatar at the top right, with the tooltip “Agent of” and your name. You see each node that it adds or changes.

A run that the agent starts costs tokens. The agent can ask for the estimate before it runs.

Stop an agent that uses a token

  1. Open Organization settings > API tokens.
  2. Click Revoke next to the token.

The agent can no longer use tabletop. See all the tools of the agent in MCP tools.
